You will receive practical experience in how to support students with special educational needs within both the classroom, small group and 1:1 provision.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
As a SEND Learning Support Apprentice, you will receive practical experience in how to support students with special educational needs within both the classroom, small group and 1:1 provision as well working with parents, external agencies and academy stakeholders.
Responsibilities for this post:
- Work under guidance in partnership with teachers and other professionals to provide effective support for learning activities, tailoring support to the needs of the students if necessary
- Support planning and delivery of the curriculum for students
- Support the planning, preparation, maintenance and evaluation of learning activities and environment, identify areas of improvement and new developments as necessary
- Assist with the development of core literacy and numeracy skills
- Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of records of students and their performance such as: SEND Support Plans, intervention overviews and tracking sheets
- Deliver small group intervention sessions focusing on specific SEND areas of need to support personal development
- Work with small groups of students and individuals both within the classroom and during withdrawal and intervention groups
- Provide additional support to students who need it
- Assist with the invigilation of internal and external tests and examinations under formal conditions
- Accompany and supervise students on trips and visits as appropriate

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- English (grade 9-4 / A*-C / Level 2)
- Maths (grade 9-4 / A*-C / Level 2)
