Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Respond promptly and courteously to telephone calls and emails related to customer support, as well as the processing of new business leads and opportunities.
  • Log client service-related activities to ensure a comprehensive record of interactions and maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and database applications.
  • Analyse data and market trends to contribute valuable insights.
  • Conduct research, actively contributing to the company's overall outputs.
  • Assist in digital document management and scanning activities.
  • Support marketing and brand awareness initiatives, including the development and delivery of key seasonal client campaigns.
  • Assisting in HR recruitment processes, including preparing job posts, screening and interviewing candidates
  • Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to compile weekly KPIs.
  • Provide feedback on office efficiency and suggest potential improvements.

  • Source and migrate data from already identified different sources.
  • Collect, format and save datasets.
  • Summarise and explain gathered data.
  • Blend data sets from multiple sources and present in format appropriate to the task.
  • Manipulate and link different data sets as required.
  • Use tools and techniques to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply basic statistical methods and algorithms to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply cross checking techniques for identifying faults and data results for data project requirements.
  • Audit data results.
  • Demonstrate the different ways of communicating meaning from data in line with audience requirements.
  • Produce clear and consistent technical documentation using standard organisational templates.
  • Store, manage and distribute in compliance with data security standards and legislation.
  • Explain data and results to different audiences in a way that aids understanding.
  • Review own development needs.
  • Keep up to date with developments in technologies, trends and innovation using a range of sources.
  • Clean data i.e. remove duplicates, typos, duplicate entries, out of date data, parse data (e.g. format telephone numbers according to a national standard) and test and assess confidence in the data and its integrity.
  • Operate as part of a multi-functional team.
  • Prioritise within the context of a project.

  • Your training plan

    Expected Apprenticeship Duration: 14 months + 3 months EPA to gain the Data Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Qualification.

    Training will be typically 1 day a week, and will be a blend of eLearning and classroom training based on:

    • CompTIA Data+
    • CompTIA/TestOut Pro Certified Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Power BI
    • Training Biweekly classes (length 3 hours) alternating between
    • Data+ and Excel/Power BI (NB: Exams optional).
