Summary

In Construction Management, you will assist the project team in the daily control, management and coordination of construction activities to ensure the project is delivered on time, on budget, and to the required safety, environmental and quality standards.

Monday - Thursday 9am - 5:30pm Friday - 9am - 4:30pm. Due to the nature of construction you may be expected to work additional hours. Whilst working on site typical start time is at 8am instead of 9am.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Producing and monitoring short-term programmes 
    Reading programme and design drawings and administering daily progress records to ensure that site works progress 
  • Contributing to package, coordination, safety and site progress meetings 
  • Ensuring safe project working practices are adhered to for all site personnel, taking appropriate action where necessary 
  • Assisting Construction Managers with various elements of the build 
  • Establishing key relationships with the trade contractors, setting up clear lines of communication to coordinate labour and help address issues that may arise

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

    • Our structured training programme will teach you technical and business skills to help you succeed in your career
    • The Commercial Assistant apprenticeship will work towards the Construction Site Supervisor L4 which consists of work-based experience and training where you’ll achieve a HNC in Construction

    Requirements

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • English (grade 4/C)
    • Maths (grade 4/C)
    • Any (grade 96 UCAS Points)
