Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
This role is a fantastic first step towards working in IT support with local schools and businesses. You will be part of a flexible and friendly team where you will learn a vast range of support requirements and technologies. Progression opportunities are offered for the successful candidate upon completion of their apprenticeship and integration with the team.
What will my new role involve?
Joining the team as an IT infrastructure apprentice, you will learn:
- How to install and maintain computer hardware, laptops, audio/visual equipment and peripherals
- Routine administration including data backups and Active Directory maintenance
- Software installation, maintenance and upgrading in line with rocket development policy
- Administration and development of Internet, Intranet, Extranet, and E-mail systems, including learning platforms and websites
- To keep abreast of technological developments and encourage the use of ICT at all levels
- To support staff and students with the set-up and preparation of ICT equipment around clients
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

Your training plan
As an IT Support Apprentice, you will be studying towards a level three ICT Support Technician apprenticeship. This apprenticeship is 22 months in length and will involve ongoing onsite training and mentoring from the Rocket Computer Services team combined with 25 days of off the job training at the PETA training centre in Cosham.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade C/4)
- Maths (grade C/4)
Desirable qualifications
BTEC in:
- IT (grade Pass)
