What you’ll do at work

Your Role

As part of our Road Logistics Expo & Events team, you will be providing operational support to clients and the rest of the team in order to ensure that our customer expectations are met/exceeded. You will be in communication with a variety of people, including overseas customers and agents. It is a varied role and your training will equip you to be involved in problem solving, finance tracking and supporting the department with their day-to-day duties. Your Responsibilities

Our 24-month Apprenticeship programme is designed to provide you with the perfect blend of practical on-the-job training and study towards the International Freight Forwarding Level 3 Apprenticeship.
Your responsibilities……

  • Coordinate transport services for events/exhibitions globally
  • Ensuring all critical information and elements (i.e. documentation) are present when arranging shipments.
  • Liaise with all relevant parties to ensure that customer expectations are met during the shipment cycle
  • Respond on time to customs requests, and manage any issues that may arise during the shipment
  • Support communication with internal teams, to align on event objectives and logistics.
  • Assist in tracking event expenses and managing budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Handle queries from colleagues and suppliers
  • This role will require you to be available out of hours/weekends to provide support which will be reflected as an additional payment per month. 

Your Skills and Experiences

  • The minimum entry requirement for this apprenticeship is GCSEs at grades 3 – 9 / A*-D including Maths & English)
  • Our company values candidates who are passionate about providing excellent customer service, have a strong work ethic, and are able to communicate effectively with others. Good planning and organization skills is important and you will need the ability to multitask and be a self-starter.
  • Previous use of Microsoft Outlook and Excel is beneficial.
  • Please be aware that this vacancy does not meet the minimum requirements for visa sponsorship and for apprenticeship funding, candidates must have been resident in the EEA for at least the last 3 years.
  • This is an entry level training position. If you are already qualified or experienced in this area of work, this is unlikely to be the position for you. However, we would welcome your application for one of our other vacancies which can be found on our website.

  • Select freight forwarding services based on customer requirements, taking into account country specific factors, delivery times and modes.
  • Use generic or bespoke ICT systems in order to enter and monitor data on importing or exporting goods.
  • Book, plan and monitor international shipments, using manual or ICT systems, in accordance with the rules and regulations that apply to that area of the world and to the goods consigned.
  • Prepare a customs declaration to a national standard, or give custom clearance instructions to a third party.
  • Use data systems to submit the information required by customs authorities as part of the management of the international movement of goods.
  • Produce freight costings and invoices in line with Incoterms, customer profile or sales contract.
  • Identify and source data from customers, systems or colleagues.
  • Identify and resolve problems in line with responsibilities.
  • Create and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Adapt communication based on the situation and the audience.
  • Identify problems outside of limits of responsibility and escalate within company policy.
  • Communicate in writing, preparing communications on technical matters.

    This apprenticeship will be delivered in the workplace. You will have a dedicated assessor who will provide guidance and monitor progress throughout. You will have access to an online portfolio to allow you to monitor your progress and log work completed.
