As a Brand Protection Paralegal you will play a key role in supporting the Brand Protection team in safeguarding the intellectual property, brand image, and reputation for well-known global brands.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Monitoring and Reporting:

Assist in monitoring online and offline channels for unauthorised use of the global companies’ brands, trade marks, and intellectual property
Generate reports on brand protection activities, including identifying and documenting potential infringements

Research and Analysis:

Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging threats to the brand
Analyse data to support the development of strategies to mitigate risks and enhance brand protection
Desktop investigations using OSINT and subscription programmes

Enforcement Support:

Assist in the preparation and execution of enforcement actions against counterfeiters and unauthorised sellers
Coordinate with legal teams, external partners, and authorities to support enforcement initiatives

Trade Mark Management:

Support the management of trademark portfolios, including monitoring and maintaining trade mark registrations
Assist in the preparation of documentation for trade mark filings and renewals

Brand Compliance:

Help ensure compliance with internal brand guidelines across all marketing and communication materials
Assist in conducting audits of marketing materials to ensure they align with brand standards

Training and Awareness:

Participate in creating and delivering internal training sessions to raise awareness of brand protection issues
Assist in the development of educational materials for employees and partners on brand protection best practices

Administrative Support:

Provide administrative support to the Brand Protection team, including scheduling meetings, managing communications, and maintaining databases
Assist in maintaining accurate records of brand protection activities, enforcement actions, and legal proceedings

assist in administering procedures using most effective channels to progress caseloads.

conduct legal research using selected sources such as legal databases.

solve legal technical problems within their remit and escalating as needed.

present findings from legal research in line with organisational expectations.

assist in applying the principles of Law to stakeholder cases.

assist with legal matters and transactions within the organisation.

communicate using plain English to provide clarification and explanation of the legal process and standard legal terms.

organise and administer workflow such as legal files, case management and accounting systems to progress work within service level expectations.

carry out file management activities such as prepare and collate bundles, take and file accurate notes, close and review files, maintain databases and version control.

use a range of digital tools and technologies, for example to draft legal documents, conduct legal research, carry out data analysis and collaborate with others.

apply fraud protection measures and cyber security procedures in relation to transactions, keeping up to date with approaches.

undertake activities to ensure a clear picture of a stakeholder’s needs and risks throughout legal transactions.

assess risks and benefits to the stakeholder of different options and making recommendations to senior team members to ensure that they work in the stakeholders’ best interests.

More training information

As a Paralegal Apprentice with BPP, you will complete the Paralegal Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. Additional learning within the apprenticeship will enable you to be awarded a Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Legal Services which can afford you exemptions from the first two years of the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship.

Your apprenticeship shall be delivered by online training from and on-the-job learning.
