Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

We are looking to appoint an Apprentice Teaching Assistant to join our strong support staff team.  As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher in supporting them to ensure all pupils get the best learning experience possible.  Your role will be to work with small groups of pupils to explain key teaching points and guide them in achieving the outcome of the lesson.  Other aspects of the role will include:

  • Working 1:1 with identified pupils
  • Preparation of resources for lessons
  • Supporting children with social skills
  • Daily listening to children reading
  • Supporting pupils when outside during break and lunch
  • Emotional and wellbeing support to pupils when needed

  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.
