Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The apprentice will provide administrative support for all quality assurance, quality improvement processes and compliance ensuring compliance with all requirements for internal and external quality, funding and finance.

The apprentice will;

  • Effectively maintain the management information system, paying close attention to detail and with a high degree of accuracy
  • Produce and analyse performance reports and data to support effective compliance and quality with funding and contractual requirements
  • Effectively and accurately process all data to ensure timely payment of income to the organisation

  • Source and migrate data from already identified different sources.
  • Collect, format and save datasets.
  • Summarise and explain gathered data.
  • Blend data sets from multiple sources and present in format appropriate to the task.
  • Manipulate and link different data sets as required.
  • Use tools and techniques to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply basic statistical methods and algorithms to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply cross checking techniques for identifying faults and data results for data project requirements.
  • Audit data results.
  • Demonstrate the different ways of communicating meaning from data in line with audience requirements.
  • Produce clear and consistent technical documentation using standard organisational templates.
  • Store, manage and distribute in compliance with data security standards and legislation.
  • Explain data and results to different audiences in a way that aids understanding.
  • Review own development needs.
  • Keep up to date with developments in technologies, trends and innovation using a range of sources.
  • Clean data i.e. remove duplicates, typos, duplicate entries, out of date data, parse data (e.g. format telephone numbers according to a national standard) and test and assess confidence in the data and its integrity.
  • Operate as part of a multi-functional team.
  • Prioritise within the context of a project.

  • Your training plan

    As part of the Level 3 Data Technician Apprenticeship Standard, you will learn the knowledge, skills and behaviours which will support you for your end-point assessment.

    You will take part in a combination of activities, such as face-to-face classroom-based sessions, work shadowing and online learning, to support your learning and development and compile a portfolio of evidence.

    The successful candidate will be required to undertake training sessions with Avant Skills Academy every other week throughout the length of the apprenticeship. If you have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 (C) in English and maths, you will be required to complete Functional Skills Level 2 in English and maths.

    At the end of the on-programme learning, you will be required to undertake an End-Point Assessment (EPA) to demonstrate you have met the occupational standard.
