Summary

Lincoln Security is looking for a hard-working individual to fill the role of Apprentice Accounts Assistant which had become available due to move to a different department of the present assistant. The role could lead to a higher position after qualifying. Lincoln Security will provide you with the time at college to complete your training.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Duties will include:

  • Data entry of Supplier & Customer invoices into the relevant accounting systems, i.e Orderwise & Sage 50 Accounts;
  • Regular filing of Supplier & Customer invoices;
  • Generating sales invoices for sales staff, and ensuring the invoices are sent out to clients effectively;
  • Reconciliation of the cash book daily, ensuring all receipts and payments are posted in good time;
  • Reconciliation of the Trade Counter takings every week;
  • Thorough reconciliations of the Business Barclaycard & Petty Cash;
  • Regular debt chasing ensures all debt-chasing targets the Finance Manager sets are achieved.

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Your training plan

    The Apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in Assistant Accountant Level 3.

    The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated assessor to support and guide throughout the course. This is a Day Release programme which means you will attend Lincoln/Newark College, 1 day per week, term time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours.

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • Maths and English (grade 4 or C)

    Desirable qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • Maths (grade 7)
    • AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Level 2) (grade Pass)
