Summary

Northbrook College, part of the Chichester College Group, is looking for a Customer Service Level 2 Apprentice to join the team at the West Durrington Campus in Worthing. The successful candidate will become part of the admissions team, meeting and greeting students who come to Student Centre.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

This front of house role will suit someone who is enthusiastic in supporting the team with promoting the recruitment and retention of students and has the aptitude and willingness to help people in a bustline environment providing information and advice to prospective students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Signposting students
  • Answering the telephone
  • Emails to and from students
  • Speaking to students face to face in the student centre
  • Learning how to print ID cards
  • You will also be expected to become familiar with and have an understanding of the courses offered at Northbrook College and be able to help students with their online applications and enrolments

  • Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

    • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required
    • Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date
    • In addition to the apprenticeship standard learning there will be mandatory training which the successful applicant will be expected completed as part of the onboarding process to be fully integrated into college life

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • Maths (grade 9-4)
    • English (grade 9-4)

    Please note that the learning provider will be Chichester College although the vacancy location is the West Durrington Campus at Northbrook College in Worthing. This will be a remote learning with some attendance at Chichester College.
