Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Services
- Discs and Pads
- Carry out replacement/repair and balancing of a range of light vehicle tyres, including ultra-low profile, directional, asymmetric and run-flat tyres fitted to a range of wheel sizes and types
- Carry out vehicle safety inspections and routine maintenance in line with manufactures' specifications or approved schedules, company procedures and complete approved documentation
- Contribute to maintaining a healthy and safe workplace, including the maintenance of key equipment and carrying out general housekeeping

Here at Hathershaw M.O.T station we are based 5 minutes away from Oldham town centre. We offer all services to your vehicles and we are experienced on all makes and models from small family cars to top of the range high performance cars. We offer a professional service on all M.O.T tests, mechanical repairs and body work.
After this apprenticeship
Progression to a Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician - Light Vehicle is available after completion of Apprenticeship.
On completion of this Standard, the Auto-care Technician will be eligible to apply for IMI membership as a Registered Young Professional or if they wish as an Associate Member. They would also gain entry into the IMI Professional Register.
