Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The apprentice will be required to complete the following duties;

  • Check tally sheets to ensure they are the correct steel coil for each specific job.
  • Quality assess steel coil to authorise it to go into production.
  • Operate overhead crane to manoeuvre slit coil onto the floop /FBS - the starting process of the mill.
  • Using Techmes computer system to monitor upcoming job.
  • Welding the end of the last slit coil to the next coil to go through production.
  • Assist the maintenance teams by communicating any breakdowns.
  • Support contractor control onsite.
