Summary

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in implementing the college's Digital Strategy, whilst attending an NSG apprentice program. The successful candidate will be able to have a "hands-on" role on new and emerging technologies, tools and techniques, preparing them for a career in IT.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • To support the Systems Management team to ensure all new services undergo IT Testing, User Acceptance Testing, and Integration framework 
  • Ensure all configuration changes within Middlesbrough College’s on premise and cloud hosted estate, and all supporting processes are fully tested and documented 
  • Test and Integrate Services to ensure that services meet the requirements of the customer and can be released to Live in a controlled manner 
  • Provide 3rd Line Incident and Problem Management support to IT Services 
  • Ensure all Testing and Operational Support documentation is accepted by Ops prior to Go Live 
  • Participate in the Major Incident Process response
  • To maintain and administer the Middlesbrough College on premise and cloud hosted application environments
  • Be the technical resource for IT projects as required
  • Deputise for the System Management Team Leader as required by the Head of IT 
  • Actively support the implementation of the digital strategy for the College 
  • Work to implement and maintain highest industry standards and help to achieve necessary accreditations such as Cyber Essentials + 
  • Actively monitor the estate to ensure that optimum performance is available to the end-users and react appropriately to associated warnings and alerts. This includes during non-standard hours in the event of service failure 
  • Administer and maintain the compliance and governance module within M365, adhering, where reasonably practicable, to recommended actions 
  • Administer and maintain the Middlesbrough College Safeguarding tools and process implemented within the College and provide relevant reports to the DSL team
  • Assist in scheduled penetration and DR testing, reviewing lessons learnt and implementing changes as required to improve the process(es) 
  • Adhere to the change control process for changes to live systems 
  • Assist with the capacity management service in relation to the infrastructure within the college. This will be done by analysing and determining the performance and capacity of individual elements of the estate and the timely quantification, design, and assisting with the implementation of future business requirements for IT services 
  • Provide assistance to any other IT teams as required to meet the needs of the organisation
