Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and motivated apprentice teaching assistant with a keen interest in the education children, to join our happy, vibrant school. You will have an opportunity to widen existing skills and to develop new ones. A sense of humour, positive attitude and ability to work within a team is a definite advantage.

£11,648 a year

This role is term time only and therefore the advertised salary is pro-rata based on the term-time only nature of this role.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The role will be to support children age 2-7 within our school and will include the following:

• Being responsible for supervising the activities of pupils during the school teaching periods and the midday sessional break within the school, including both indoor and outdoor areas, ensuring a safe environment is maintained at all times

• Assisting the Headteacher and teachers in the development and implementation of a programme of work and in the provision of a stable, caring, and supportive learning environment, which enables pupils to achieve their full learning potential and facilitates their personal, social, and moral development.

• Typically, there will be some requirement to work with pupils, either individually or in groups, who have some special educational needs such as, learning difficulties, high learning abilities or behavioural challenges.

  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.
