Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
To assist one of our engineers in carrying out yard based repair work once going out to customer sites to assist engineers in field work:
- General service and maintenance work
- Vehicle and plant inspections
- Electrical hydraulic and pneumatic diagnosis
- Carry out repairs to plant machinery and cranes

Level 3 Land-based Service Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard, which includes:
- Day release at Bishop Burton College
- End-Point Assessment (EPA)
- Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
- Training will be provided mostly in the workplace with an assessor coming to visit on a regular basis to do work-based reviews, assessments, and observations

Other requirements
The vacancy is based in a rural area and public transport links are minimal. You will need to ensure that you can access the employer and training provider in line with the hours of work. The role will involve working outdoors/in all weathers/standing for long periods/chemicals/heat/cold/heights/underground/ driving/using heavy equipment/lifting etc. Due to the location of the yard, a drivers licence is preferred. Occasional weekend and evening work. Occasional work away from home. You will need to supply your own tools. These can be purchased through the company and deducted from your wage. Travel to and from customer sites is paid. Annual Salary increase in line with company progression.
