Summary

Plymouth City Council’s Insurance Team is looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to provide administrative and technical support to the team by logging insurance claims and payments, processing documentation, maintain databases, respond to customer queries and prepare court files along with other appropriate administrative duties.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Provide administration support to the Insurance team and the wider department
  • Assist in dealing with queries from customers and colleagues (by telephone and in person); taking and relaying accurate messages as necessary
  • Assist in checking and processing documentation (sometimes confidential)
  • Assist in producing letters, emails and other documents
  • Assist with data input onto computer systems (full training to be given)
  • To fully comply with the requirements of the apprenticeship programme, e.g. attendance at review meetings, undertaking case studies
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post

  • Compliant with relevant governance, policies and procedures.

  • Identify potential claims fraud and determine the correct action to prevent loss.
  • Manage insurance claims and/or payments within the limits of responsibility in line with policies and procedures.

  • Recommend insurance and premiums decisions within the limits of responsibility and in line with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Gather and interpret relevant information to provide a return on insurance decisions.
  • Match client’s needs with available insurance products and services.
  • Optimises the potential return on insurance decisions within the scope of own role by identifying and positioning the client’s case with the insurer.

    • Remote learning
    • Alongside your duties, 20% of your time will be set aside to undertake “off-the-job training” that will be used to learn new skills and produce evidence as part of your apprenticeship qualification
