Summary
We have an exciting apprenticeship opportunity to act as a key worker in assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing the total care needs of residents under the general guidance of the manager of the home. You will be fully supported by the staff and your Oldham College Tutor.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- To support and encourage residents to live as independently as possible and to provide practical help to those requiring assistance/supervision in their daily living tasks.
- To identify the individual needs of the residents and meet those through good care planning and review processes, in conjunction with co-workers.
- To ensure good communication of information over residents is maintained at all times, to include the updating of personal records on a weekly basis.
- To take a lead role in the delivery of care to ensure a high quality service is provided.
- To support residents with shopping and monitor dietary needs and report any concerns.
- To communicate with and welcome visitors to the home.
- To initiate, support and maintain links with families and friends.
- Assisting with personal care needs, such as washing, dressing, hair, oral care, finger nails, bathing and weighing.
- Continence will also be attended to if the resident has difficulties.
- Cleaning – general.
- Commodes are to be emptied and cleaned.
- To encourage residents to be as independently mobile as possible.

- The apprentice will be supported by their Oldham College Tutor/Assessor, in the workplace. If maths and/or english are needed, the apprentice will attend college classes for these.

GCSE in:

- Maths (grade 3-9/A*-D)

Other requirements
You will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS. There is a degree of lifting and carrying that you will need to be able to carry out.
