Apprenticeship wages depend on both the apprentice's age and experience,for 16 to 18 the minimum hourly rate is £6.40. Once an apprentice turns 19 and has completed their first year,they are entitled to the National Minimum Wage for their age group.

Monday to Thursday, 9.00am - 5.00pm. Friday, 9.00am - 4.30pm, with day release to college. This apprenticeship is 12 months plus 3 months for End Point Assessment and gateway. GCSE Maths and English grade 4 is essential.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • To Maintain an efficient and accurate finance function.
  • Undertake, input and process the financial records for schools and college and bookkeeping activities.
  • You will be required to attend training in person or online as required by the training provider and complete course work to a high standard.
  • You will also be undertaking a range of financial administration and accounting tasks suited to the post holder’s current level of training and development.
  • Produce quality work that meets deadlines and is accurate and professionally presented.
  • Produce statutory and other financial reports as required.

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Your training plan

    • Level 2 AAT Accountancy Qualification- 4 days with employer and day release at college.
    • Location: Shared between Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form college, Vane Terrace, Darlington, DL3 7AU & Longfield Academy, Longfield Road, Darlington, CoDurham, DL3 0HT.
    • Working 5 days per week inclusive of 1 day release for study at Darlington College

    You will handle finance records, bookkeeping, and other tasks for schools and colleges. Work is split between Queen Elizabeth College and Longfield Academy, with potential assignments at other Trust locations. A Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate will be required for all posts and be subject to enhanced checks as part of our Prevent Duty.
