Summary

The role is a supported pathway to becoming a fully qualified financial advisor. The role will initially become involved in all aspects of the advisory process such as admin, report writing, research whilst at the same time progressing through all the relevant qualifications needed to become a qualified advisor.

Salary of £19,000 to £24,000 depending on experience. Once qualified you will receive a starting salary of £25,000

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • You will initially be shadowing all staff members including the advisers, paraplanner, administration and marketing staff to understand the full advice journey and the relevant steps required for each individual client
  • Completing tasks such as the following:

a. Implementation of advice recommendation reports, analysis on specific products and investment strategies

b. Helping complete analysis to construct the Centralised Investment and Retirement Propositions by utilising our analytical tools to assess the ‘whole of the market’ in relation to products and investment strategies

c. Inputting client specific data into our back office system

d. Being shown ways of being able to self-market yourself as well as the company through our marketing strategies as well as being a frequent user of LinkedIn

Throughout the journey of your apprenticeship, you will start to complete the following tasks:

  • Sitting in client meetings with the advisers to understand the process of meeting
  • Experience of the administration function within the business and its integral role to the company
  • Taking notes of the meeting to help the adviser construct the advice to then pass through to our paraplanning and admin departments
  • Completing and writing recommendation reports by utilising our report writing and analytical tools
  • Start to hold clients meetings prior to being signed off with the adviser within the meeting to help with the process and flow of said meeting
  • Start to go to networking events with the advisers to show a way of being able to network for potential future business for successful business and personal growth

Once fully signed off as a fully qualified adviser you will complete the following tasks:

  • Be given a small initial client book (approximately 20 clients) over the course of approximately 6 months to help you progress as an adviser and have your own clients
  • Build a business plan along with the advisers/ Directors to establish new and existing client relationships to help you progress as a competent and successful adviser with your own and or existing YorWealth clients depending on skill sets which we will establish throughout your journey as an employee of YorWealth Ltd.

Course contents
  • Know your customer: Make decisions confidently and autonomously in full awareness of the risk/potential external implications attached. Know when to seek further professional input, whilst maintaining high ethical standards and adhering to Treating Customers Fairly requirements.
  • Customer service: Proactively and regularly meet the company’s stated service/quality assurance standards, including complaints procedures.
  • Customer service: Consistently support colleagues and collaborate to achieve a successful customer outcome.
  • Business development: Develop long term relationships with customers. Create new opportunities for business growth through referrals and networking. Build a new business or sustain and grow an existing business by prioritising workloads and deliver in accordance with the associated business plan.
  • Managing Risk: Apply regulatory requirements both in the role of a Financial Adviser and also as applied to the Company. Maintain, the Fit and Proper person standards as laid down by the relevant regulator(s).
  • Using systems and processes: Demonstrate technical proficiency in using the firm’s I.T. systems required to complete the advice process, maintain accurate records, and agree review meetings to sustain the client / adviser relationship. Ensure Data Protection Act is not contravened.
  • Communication skills: Build rapport and communicate with empathy. Present and explain complex information simply and clearly both orally and verbally.

    You will achieve the Financial Adviser Level 4 Apprenticeship Standard

    • Fully and part funded learning and development programme that includes the DipPFS Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning
    • Develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours of successful Financial Advisers

    • Includes CII digital study book and exam entry for each R0 exam

    Requirements

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • English (grade 4)
    • Maths (grade 4)
    • Financial Related (Business/Economics) (grade 2:2 or above)

    YorWealth offer independent financial advice in York. We advise on family finances, retirement planning, savings and investments. We currently have 6 members of staff including 3 Directors/ Advisers, a paraplanner, admin and marketing members of staff We are an ambitious and growing Financial Advice firm with both new clients and staff coming onboard successfully since we were established in November 2020. We have been successful at establishing and nurturing a good local presence in the business and local community and will continue to do so as part of our growth expansion in the coming years.
