An exciting opportunity to join the team as an Apprentice Commis Chef at The Weld Arms, East Lulworth, part of the stunning Lulworth Estate. The broad purpose of the occupation is to support the kitchen in providing the culinary offer by preparing, cooking and finishing a range of food items whilst rotating around each section of the kitchen.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Working with our busy kitchen team, assisting with food preparation and cooking
- Observing good food and personal hygiene standards when preparing food.
- Ensuring food storage and food equipment is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
- Ensuring all hygiene, fridge/hot food temperature records are kept in accordance with food hygiene requirements.
- Storing food and all kitchen items correctly and assisting in carrying out stock control and replenishment.
- Keeping the kitchen and outside areas clean, tidy, safe and hygienic at all times.
- Sweeping and mopping the floors during service and at the end of shift, emptying bins, pot-washing, using the dishwasher and carrying out general cleaning of the kitchen.
- Assisting with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Adhering to the company health and safety policy.
- Providing a high standard of customer service at all times when preparing food and dealing with customers.

- The apprentice will receive the main part of their training in the workplace. One day per week will be spent undertaking off the job training at Weymouth College (term-time only).
- Functional Skills English and Maths if required.

You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. You will be required to attend an interview and assessment at Weymouth College prior to your application being passed on. If a suitable candidate is found prior to the advertised closing date, it may close earlier so please apply early to avoid disappointment.
