Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Follow Adviser training plan, complete and submit Agreement in Principles (AIP) and Full Mortgage Applications (FMA) to mortgage lenders for our client base
  • Mortgage Application Processing: Handle the end-to-end processing of mortgage applications, ensuring all documentation is accurate and submitted on time
  • Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, lenders, and third parties, providing updates and handling queries efficiently
  • Document Management: Ensure all client files and records are maintained in compliance with industry regulations
  • Compliance: Adhere to regulatory requirements and company policies, ensuring all mortgage applications meet compliance standards
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the mortgage advisor, including diary management, scheduling appointments, and preparing reports

  • The ability to elicit customer's needs through effective fact finding and questioning techniques and provides solutions thorough research and analysis. Can plan and prioritise workloads and deliver all required outputs to customers and colleagues; achieving all internal standards (e.g. service standards, accuracy, attention to detail, meeting required risk, regulatory and governance requirements).
  • Has high quality written and verbal communication skills and is able to handle a range of situations and issues that arise. Has the ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, professional contacts and third party product providers.
  • An understanding of regulatory requirements by working compliantly, including data protection and treating customers fairly. Identify specific threats to the business and act appropriately in line with regulation and governance. E.g. ensuring that confidential information is only shared with the relevant people.
  • The ability to identify, generate and develop relationships that support the role. E.g. professional contacts, new business opportunities through internal/external networking and customer referrals.
  • Adheres to all relevant processes and procedures using technical ability and proficient IT skills to deliver positive outcomes for customers and the business, within the risk, regulatory and governance requirements.

    Apprentices will complete the Level 3 Mortgage Adviser Apprenticeship Standard

    • Fully and part funded learning and development programme that includes the CertCII (MP) Certificate in Mortgage Advice, which includes:
      CF1 Financial Services, Regulation & Ethics
      CF6 Mortgage Advice
    • Develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours of successful Mortgage Advisers
    • Free CII membership for non-members through the CII Aspire Apprenticeship Programme
    • Includes the CII CF1 & CF6 digital study books and exam entry
    • Fortnightly workshops for the CII exams from our CII approved trainer
    • All workshops recorded and available on-demand
    • Interactive chat, forums and class notebooks for real time support and assistance from experienced financial services professionals
    • Exam tips, tricks, and strategies
    • Regular tutorials and assessments from an experienced financial services professional
    • R01 is available as an alternative to CF1. Suitability for R01 will be determined by a Skills Assessment completed by Skills Edge

    After this apprenticeship

    • After 6 months you will be eligible to join the operations team monthly commission structure
    • After 12 months you will be eligible to move to our full pay scales (on or above minimum wage)
    • After completing the Apprenticeship and our own internal Mortgage Academy (4 months) you will become a full Mortgage Adviser and will be paid Salary, Commission and Bonus based on performance (OTE £35-70k)
