Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Duties of the Business Administrator Apprentice include assisting in daily office needs and managing our company's general administrative activities.
- Providing office support including customer and employee support
- Keeping well-organised files and records of business activity
- Keeping computer databases up to date
- Interacting with colleagues and clients
- Answering phones and connecting calls to the proper department
- Taking phone messages and passing them on
- Following up on business communications, billing, and ordering
- Communicating with materials suppliers and vendors
- Invoicing
- Using spreadsheets to track expenses and company spending.
- Collecting and inputting company data
- Making travel arrangements for employees
- Learning about the company's mission and available products/services
- Sending emails
- Preparing documents by printing, copying, and binding
- Collecting and sorting post
- Assisting with minor technical support
- Ordering office stationery and other supplies
- Preparing meeting rooms by setting up chairs and getting refreshments
- Participating in office meetings and taking meeting minutes
- Being ready for any other administrative tasks that are required.

GCSE or equivalent in:

Other requirements
Though the site is not directly accessible by public transport, there are transport links into Dunmow and then it's a walk to the site. The role is office based but on occasion the apprentice may be asked to enter the workshop. The environment in the workshop can be noisy and dusty. Must be prepared to wear relevant PPE from time to time if required. The role will involve long periods working on a computer.
