The successful candidate will be mentored by an experienced team who will support individuals to become fully skilled & qualified in this industry.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
On a day-to-day basis as an apprentice, you will be doing the following:
- Working independently or as part of a team
- Following fabrication/assembly manuals from set out to completion
- Learn how to fabricate to the specifications set out by our various system suppliers
- Learn techniques to enable you to fabricate the product to a high standard that meets our client’s requirements
- General housekeeping & work area cleanliness
- Loading, unloading, and general labouring
- General Health & Safety
- Health & Safety rules and regulations

Your training plan
- All aspects of your training will be delivered on-site with your employer
- As an apprentice you will receive from your employer 6 hours each week for your off the job training, this included as part of your working weekly hours. Off the job training is there to help with your learning and development of the knowledge, skills and behaviors as part of your apprenticeship standard. Majority of these 6 hours will be spent on site with your mentor learning, along with having time set aside away from your normal day to day working environment for you to complete study time in which will help you with the completion of targets set by your assessor (e.g. workbooks, online learning, research, self-study)
- You will also have regular site visits every ten to twelve weeks from your designated assessor, who will monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship program

Although our industry specialty is in the delivery of Fenestration Training, our assessors are each skilled in their own specialist discipline
- This apprenticeship is a mentor led qualification based at site. As an apprentice you will learn all practical elements on site with your mentor which will help you develop your Skills and Behaviours as part of the apprenticeship standard
- There is no need for any college days and no additional travel required. Our assessors are able to carry out classroom sessions, observations or site visits every 10-12 weeks to support you through the knowledge elements of the standard in small segments throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, in preparation for End Point Assessment (EPA)
- Everything for your apprenticeship will need to be completed within your working weekly hours each week in which you will spend 6 hours per a week learning and studying towards your apprenticeship

The candidate will be required to spend significant amounts of time working alongside the Production Engineer to understand fully the Standard Operating Procedures, associated quality control checks at each stage and how that culminates in End of Line procedures. Learning & developing corrective action procedures

HWL is a leading manufacturer of windows and doors, specialising in the fabrication of flush windows and door utilising the Residence Collection suite of profiles. Additionally, we can supply Residence unglazed – made possible through our pioneering application of Timberweld® welding technologies. Allowing us to deliver a traditional 90° butt-weld inside and out, whilst creating an authentic timber joint but in a far stronger, welded window. This eliminates the requirement to glass bond the frame, simplifying and lowering the cost of installation and remedial work without compromising on strength or performance. We work with installers, supplying retail and home improvement markets, as well as developers, other routes to market include both Commercial & New Build sectors. We also work as a specialist supplier of products to other fabrication businesses who don’t want to disrupt their core production to manufacture a non-core product.
