As an apprentice with Unique Fire and Security, you will have the chance to learn and develop your skills in the installation, servicing and repair of fire and security systems. Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Key Responsibilities:
- Install new fire and security systems in accordance with company requirements
- Oversee installation projects from start to finish
- Conduct servicing and repairs on various security systems, including Advanced, Gent, Apollo, Hochiki, Texecom, Galaxy, Menvier, Hikvision, Dahua, Avigilon, TDSi, Integra, and Paxton
- Complete paperwork and reports accurately and in a timely manner
- Attend reactive calls and breakdowns, performing general maintenance work and fault rectification

Training and Qualifications:
As part of your apprenticeship with Unique Fire and Security, you will undertake the Fire Emergency and Security Systems Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship. This comprehensive training program combines workplace learning with regular college attendance at Yeovil College.
- Year 1- 10 block weeks
- Year 2- 6 Block weeks
- Year 3 - 4 Block weeks
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours outlined in the fire emergency and security systems technician standard. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will be awarded the Fire Emergency and Security Systems Technician qualification.
Functional Skills in English and maths if required.

After this apprenticeship
Upon completing the apprenticeship, we will provide further training opportunities, including the FIA Fire Alarm course, BAFE extinguisher training, and FIA Emergency Lighting training. These additional certifications will ensure that you possess all the knowledge required to become a fully qualified Fire and Security Engineer of the future.
