Summary

This role is perfect for someone who has a keen interest in the construction industry and is now looking to build their career. Duties include but are not limited to liaising with our contracts team and supervisors on site, dealing with any queries that may arise and checking and completing labour timesheets on a weekly basis.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

• Providing support to the Commercial Team
• Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
• Preparing valuations and pricing of variations
Liaising with the procurement team to order materials for site Monitoring costs to ensure budgets are adhered to/cost analysis
• Carrying out site visits and attending meetings on site when required such as pre-starts
• Dealing with any queries from clients that may arise
• Checking and completing labour timesheets on a weekly basis
• Measuring drawings for projects using Bluebeam Revu
• Creating and completing ticksheets to monitor site progress
• Any other tasks asked by the Commercial Team

Course contents
  • Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
  • Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
  • Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
  • Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
  • Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
  • Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
  • Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
  • Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.

    Other requirements

    Experience in the Construction Industry Experience in the Commercial/Residential Flooring sector. Previous experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or a role similar. A UK driving licence is preferred due to location of the role and travelling to and from construction sites. Mileage can be claimed back when making these journeys.
