Summary

We are seeking an apprentice to train up to become a skilled and dedicated Manufacturing Technician in our production Team. This crucial role focuses on two primary areas: assembling boxes and assembling curtains.

Annual wage
£15,000 a year

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Area 1: Assembling Boxes

Measure and Cut Materials:

  • Accurately measure materials using measuring tapes, set squares and rulers.
  • Utilise circular saws and other cutting tools to cut materials to specified dimensions.
  • Assemble Components:
  • Follow build sheets to assemble boxes using hand-held drills, rivet guns, and run-down guns.
  • Ensure precision in the assembly process to meet specified standards.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct thorough inspections to ensure all assembled boxes meet established quality standards.
  • Address any discrepancies promptly to maintain product integrity.
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and promote a culture of safety among peers.

Area 2: Assembling Curtains

  • Measure and Prepare Materials
  • Use measuring tapes and circular saws to accurately measure and cut lath and other materials.

Assembly:

  • Assemble curtain components with precision using staple guns, hand-held tools (screwdrivers, hammers, saws), and pillar drills.
  • Follow build sheets meticulously to ensure correct assembly.

Electrical Wiring:

  • Perform basic electrical wiring tasks as specified in the build sheets, ensuring proper connections and safety.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Verify that all assembled curtains meet the highest quality standards through rigorous inspection.
  • Implement corrective actions for any identified issues to ensure product reliability.

Safety Compliance:

  • Maintain strict adherence to safety guidelines during the assembly process.
  • Promote safe practices and ensure all tools and equipment are used correctly.

Required Skills and Qualifications Technical Proficiency: • Ability to read and comprehend basic build sheets and technical drawings. • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly techniques. Tool Operation: • Proficient in the use of measuring tapes, hand-held drills, rivet guns, run-down guns, circular saws, staple guns, pillar drills, and other hand-held tools. Attention to Detail: • Keen eye for detail to ensure all assemblies meet the highest quality standards. • Ability to identify and rectify minor defects before they affect overall product quality. Safety Awareness: • Strong commitment to safety, ensuring all tasks are completed in a safe manner. • Knowledge of workplace safety protocols and the proper use of PPE. Electrical Knowledge: • Basic understanding of electrical wiring principles and the ability to perform simple wiring tasks safely.
