Summary

Participate fully in each rotation by engaging with the team and demonstrating a commitment to learn. During the Settlements rotation, work collaboratively with other team members to settle trades, manage fails and identify risk within a specific market group, or for a specific set of clients.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • During the Reconciliations rotation, work collaboratively with other team members to reconcile cash and stock positions and manage breaks
  • During the Static Data rotation, work collaboratively with other team members to check, review and input all data held within Invest One, including but not limited to, security set up, pricing and data management, fund set ups and corporate events
  • During the Valuations rotation, work collaboratively with other team members to prepare fund valuations (NAV’s) and the disseminate those prices to stakeholders
  • Fully comply with legal requirements, industry regulations, organisational policies and professional codes
  • Work in accordance to our standards, values and guiding behaviours at all times
  • At the request of the Team Leader, provide information to be added to reports and documentation for management reporting
  • Work according to KPIs and in line with other performance indicators
  • Work accurately and efficiently according to department procedures and processes
  • Complete assigned tasks in a diligent and timely manner

  • Source and migrate data from already identified different sources.
  • Collect, format and save datasets.
  • Summarise and explain gathered data.
  • Blend data sets from multiple sources and present in format appropriate to the task.
  • Manipulate and link different data sets as required.
  • Use tools and techniques to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply basic statistical methods and algorithms to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply cross checking techniques for identifying faults and data results for data project requirements.
  • Audit data results.
  • Demonstrate the different ways of communicating meaning from data in line with audience requirements.
  • Produce clear and consistent technical documentation using standard organisational templates.
  • Store, manage and distribute in compliance with data security standards and legislation.
  • Explain data and results to different audiences in a way that aids understanding.
  • Review own development needs.
  • Keep up to date with developments in technologies, trends and innovation using a range of sources.
  • Clean data i.e. remove duplicates, typos, duplicate entries, out of date data, parse data (e.g. format telephone numbers according to a national standard) and test and assess confidence in the data and its integrity.

    Data Technician Level 4.

    BPP apprenticeship training programmes are delivered virtually by our fully qualified and industry-experienced training team.     AS Level or equivalent in:

    • In any subject - Maths, Economics, Business would (grade (A*-C/9-4 or equivalent))

    Opportunity to be offered a permanent role and become a subject matter expert in one of the functions (valuations, settlements, reconciliations, static data). Opportunity to carry on apprenticeship to level 3 Data Technician.
