Summary

VQ Solutions is seeking a personable individual to join Amber Labs as an HR Apprentice. You will support their HR department with administrative tasks, helping to ensure smooth HR operations. This role offers the chance to learn and develop skills in a professional and supportive environment.

£17,000 a year

The salary will increase to £18,000 after the probationary period concludes.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Assist in the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed including relevant security processes
  • Coordinate with new hires to ensure a smooth onboarding experience
  • Facilitate onboarding sessions and provide relevant information to new employees
  • With guidance when needed from senior HR executives, manage the HR inbox, responding to queries about holidays, policies, and other HR-related matters
  • Maintain and update the probation tracker, sending reminder emails and upcoming probation lists to the relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinate the distribution of birthday vouchers to employees
  • Assist in booking offices and meeting rooms as required
  • Handle ad-hoc requests for information related to the company’s systems and processes
  • Assist in organising social events and activities for employees
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure successful event execution
  • Manage the performance management framework tracking system
  • Send reminder emails and notifications related to performance reviews and evaluations
  • Contribute to improving HR reporting processes, including onboarding reporting
  • Gather and analyse data to support HR initiatives and decision-making

Course contents
  • Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
  • Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
  • Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media eg phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
  • Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues /collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
  • Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
  • Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.
  • Your training plan

    You will work towards an Advanced level HR Support Apprenticeship delivered by VQ Solutions. You will have a dedicated VQ mentor, and you will also be supported internally by your manager.

    During this apprenticeship, you will develop a portfolio, attend online workshop sessions and have regular reviews.

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • Maths and English (grade Minimum C/4)
