Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Based in sunny East Yorkshire, UK, we are an independent, family-run retailer of renewable energy supplies. We stock an extensive range of Solar panels, batteries, inverters, kits, cables, connectors, mounting brackets, electric vehicle (EV) chargers and accessories.
We deal with both domestic and commercial projects, ranging from camper vans to warehouses and everything in between.
HDM Solar is looking for a Branch apprentice to join their team
After full training responsibilities will include:
- Managing stock in and out (to external clients)
- Picking and packing
- Store transfers and stock control
- Completing the paperwork within the office
- Raising quotations
- Trade counter
- Processing orders
- Answering the telephone
- Some heavy lifting will be involved with loading and unloading the vans

Completing a Level 2 Trade SupplierApprenticeship Standard, consisting of:
- Knowledge and competence qualification in Trade Supplier at Level 2
- End-Point Assessment (EPA) - final test and observation
The vocational and academic training aspects are separated and delivered by separate teams. The vocational training and assessment is conducted, more often than not, on site according to the employers wishes.
Notice of dates is agreed well in advance of a site visit. Training and assessment is conducted both on and off the job, according to the needs of the course and the learner. Every effort is made to ensure the best result is achieved by the learner.

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- English (grade 4-9)
- Maths (grade 4-9)
