Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Main Duties:
• Undertaking all tasks within the main laboratory appropriate to the level of training given to you by team leaders and management.
• Registration, preparation, and analysis of samples as required.
• Adhering to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.
• Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed throughout the day.
• Maintain turnaround time at >99%, ensuring that daily targets are achieved.
• Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment.
• Ensure personal protective clothing equipment is worn, assisting through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard.
• Maintain a clean as you go mentality.
• Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- 5 subjects, including Maths and English (grade 4)

Other requirements
Please note the role can be quite repetitive and requires candidates to be on their feet for long periods of time. This is a fast-paced environment therefore the candidates need to work well under pressure.
