Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
As part of the kitchen team, creating memorable experiences for guests, you will gain qualifications, confidence and skills for your culinary career.
Duties include:
- Kitchen basics - cleaning, dishwashing, dealing with waste and recycling, food packaging and labelling and helping with food deliveries
- Learn the importance of food and health safety as well as gaining practical skills - knife handling, using kitchen equipment, food preparation, cooking and stock control
- Progress to create your own recipes

Your training plan
The candidate will follow a Level 2 Apprenticeship programme and study towards a full Level 2 Standard in Commis Chef. This training will be structured and delivered by Cheshire College - South & West. If the candidate does not hold GCSE grades A*-C (9-2) or equivalent, they will be required to complete a Level 1 Functional Skill in the relevant subject.
