Summary
You will learn how to use all the specialist hand tools, machinery and power tools associated with this role. You will need to show attention to detail when cutting and aligning brickwork and slabs. You will be shown how to use all the power tools and specialised cutting equipment safely and correctly.

Wages: £256.00 per week, based on 40 hours per week. Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- The role will involve working indoors and out
- You will be required to carry out duties such as laying bricks, paving stones & blocks correctly, checking alignments throughout each stage
- You will be shown how to prepare and spread mortar, using the correct ratio mixes

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

- Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
- As an additional qualification you will also achieve your Emergency First Aid and Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding
- Functional Skills in English and maths if required
- You will complete training both on the job on site and off the job at the skills group training centre in Plympton, this is 4 days working on site and 1 day college attendance

About this company
Tom Pudner has been working within the bricklaying industry for a number of years now. He works in the Saltash and the surrounding areas, including Plymouth and Cornwall, working on new build sites and domestic property. Tom has had a number of apprentices in the past and currently has apprentices on his team.
