Summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to work for Mallatite. Working within a busy office environment, training will cover all aspects of finance in line with the company's standard operating procedures.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The apprentice will play an important team role in the day to day planning, organisation and smooth running of the department. Duties to include:

  • Maintenance of weekly and monthly files
  • Filing of weekly paperwork
  • Post purchase invoices (No Purchase order)
  • Identify/match/post purchase invoices (with purchase order). And query any prices differences/goods not booked in
  • Generate weekly payment runs for both UK and Euro suppliers
  • Ad-hoc payments
  • Ownership of bought ledger email inbox
  • Statement reconciliations for at least the top 30 suppliers each month
  • To ensure all documents (invoices etc.) are spindled (scanned) onto each account and correctly
  • Monthly expenses processing and payment
  • Process CIS deductions and generate sub-contractor certificate for internal sign-off on job completion
  • Follow internal procedures on supplier detail changes
  • General ledger ad-hoc tasks (i.e. post journals)
  • Ensure up-to-date contact information is kept on file
  • Credit control

From time to time, you may be required to perform other duties as requested by your Line Manager, and whilst not listed above, these duties will be appropriate to the level of responsibility held and to the scope of the role as defined.

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • English (grade 4 and above)
    • Maths (grade 4 and above)
    • Accounts (grade E and above)
    • Accounts/Finance Assistant Level 2 (grade Pass)

    Other requirements

    Experience in Bookkeeping and accounting is desirable as this is a Level 3 qualification and prior knowledge and experience is essential.
