Polwhele House School in Truro are offering an exciting opportunity to join their team as an Equine Groom Apprentice. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into the Equine industry and develop new skills.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
The ideal candidate will be willing to work across 5 days including weekends and is positive and flexible.
The main duties are:
- Mucking Out and Field Maintenance – general clean up, fencing, weed control etc.
- Turning out/bringing in horses
- Feeding
- Grooming
- Changing rugs, tacking up
- Exercising horses and ponies both ridden and in-hand
- Lunging
- Assisting with general running and managing yard duties
- Assisting with events, in-house competitions, travelling to shows
- Assisting with lessons i.e.; leading

GCSE or equivalent in:
- Maths and English (grade C/4 or above)

About this company
Polwhele House Riding School is part of a private school, set within 30 acres of parkland and woodland on the outskirts of Truro. The riding school operates for pupils in term time during the week, and opens to the public on Saturdays and in school holiday periods. There are 8 horses and ponies, stables, tack room and feed room an outdoor arena with jumps and equipment, and portable cross country jumps for the Summer months. The Riding School is a licensed 5-star establishment and a Pony Club Centre. Small and Friendly, we cater mostly for children, offering lessons, hacks, Summer Camp and school holiday activities.
