*Wages:* £211.20 per week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.

*Working Hours:* 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8.30am to 5.00pm. Variable depending on workload. Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Learning and Development:

Gain hands-on experience by working closely with a qualified mentor who will provide valuable guidance and support
Develop a comprehensive understanding of various tasks, including replacing tyres and exhaust systems, conducting general maintenance, and servicing duties
Participate in the essential process of MOT testing and vehicle preparation, honing your skills in ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards
Familiarise yourself with an array of specialised tools and equipment, ranging from basic hand tools to power tools and precision measuring instruments, including tire changing machines

Duties and Tasks:

Execute brake changes meticulously, prioritising the safety and optimal functionality of the vehicle's braking system
Carry out oil and filter changes to ensure the engine operates at its peak performance level
Assist in clutch repairs, ensuring smooth gear changes and efficient vehicle operation
Engage in comprehensive engine diagnostics to identify and address performance issues effectively
Master cylinder head replacement techniques for proficient engine repair
Undertake suspension work and tackle a diverse range of automotive tasks, expanding your skillset and expertise in the field

Course contents

S1: Contribute to maintaining a healthy and safe workplace, including the maintenance of key equipment and carrying out general housekeeping

S2: Carry out stock procedures including dealing with routine stock deliveries, placing stock into storage, carrying out stock rotation duties and ordering parts for customers following company procedures

S3: Carry out vehicle safety inspections and routine maintenance in line with manufactures specifications or approved schedules, company procedures and complete approved documentation.

S4: Make recommendations to customers based on the results of inspections, ensuring that sales recommendations are accurate and fully costed, are ethical and in the best interests of the customer at all times, using language that is transparent and avoids jargon.

S5: Carry out replacement/repair and balancing of a range of light vehicle tyres, including ultra-low profile, directional, asymmetric and run-flat tyres fitted to a range of wheel sizes and types

S6: Carry out the replacement of components on a specific range of vehicle systems including Steering & Suspension, Braking systems, Battery & Charging systems, exhaust systems and Air-Conditioning systems

S7: Carry out 4-wheel Geometry operations including adjustments on a range of vehicles with different suspension and steering systems

S8: Use a range of specialist tools & equipment, mechanical & electrical measuring tools and diagnostic equipment to support fault identification and repair.

S9: Identify & procure correct parts to meet specific customer requirements

S10: Access vehicle technical data to inform inspections and make judgements on wear and serviceability.

S11: Deal with and resolve low-level customer complaints

S12: Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and colleagues

S13: Use specific company IT systems within the workplace, including Point-of-sale systems and hand-held devices.

Your training plan

The Apprenticeship in Autocare Technician consists of:

Level 2 Standard Autocare Technician qualification
Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required)

As part of the apprenticeship programme, attendance is required at our Skills Group training centre for one day per week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site by the employer. You will have regular visits every six to twelve weeks from your designated Skills Group assessor, who will monitor your progress during your apprenticeship training.

After this apprenticeship
