Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Flootes are a small team in a professional Bistro/Café kitchen situated in the picturesque village of Woburn. All classic British menu items are cooked and prepared on site. Full training is given across a comprehensive range of culinary skills. Mains prep, desserts, baking, and cake making, and therefore you will be fully equipped for a career in catering. This also has the benefit of daily work variation patterns; not limited to a single workstation. Also included is Barista coffee training by our experienced team.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- All preparation and cooking of dishes for service, following recipe specifications as required.
- Complying with and having full knowledge of regulations regarding health & safety, employee conduct, food hygiene, fire emergency procedures, and COSHH regulations.
- Ensure the kitchen and service area are clean, tidy, and attractive during service.
- To ensure all food preparation is carried out by food hygiene procedures.
- Demonstrating a willingness to learn and grow in the culinary field.
Perform other general tasks to support effective food service delivery as reasonably requested such as:
- Service.
- Stocktaking.
- Moving stock.
Flexible working available, based on 4/5 days 30+ hours. We are a daytime operation, hence evening work is a rarity.

Enthusiasm to get stuck in to a potentially busy environment and to learn the whole spectrum of all aspects of food preparation and service.
