Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • To provide administrative support to EMH Sharpes Administration Team with positivity to ensure the effective  
    operation of administration tasks which will include liaising  
    with EMH Customer Services/Experience Team
  • To deliver front line customer care services effectively over all our multimedia channels including telephone, e -mail, web, text and SMS
  • Handle and help resolve multimedia queries in a prompt respectful and courteous manner
  • Interpret any repair queries and respond within set guidelines including instructions to contractors
  • Provide effective customer service to deal with routine queries, face to face, over the phone and via-email
  • Organise and schedule meetings, maintaining effective diary management
  • Scan, photocopy and maintain documents in line with data protection guidelines
  • Provide administration support for ad hoc requirement such as large mail communications, annual processes, projects, and the production of any manual correspondence
  • Assist with record keeping computerised and manual
  • Always maintain confidentiality and handle all information in accordance with Data Protection Policy
  • Support the Administration Team with the procurement process and stock recording of PPE/uniforms and relevant business purchases
  • Deal with arising queries, future and completed reactive works to help support Reactive Managers and Administrators

Course contents
  • Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

    Apprentices who have not achieved the equivalent of level 2
    qualifications in maths and English, will need to achieve level 1
    functional skills in these and work towards level 2 functional skills

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • English (grade C/4 or above)
    • Maths (grade C/4 or above)
