What you will do in your working day
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Minimize wastage and loss to business
- Contribute to reviewing and refreshing menus in line with business and customer requirements
- Use a range of craft preparation and basic cooking skills and techniques to prepare, cook and finish dishes and menu items
- Ensure portion control
- Ensure the presentation of the food and service is to the standard of the company.
- Ensure excellence in cleanliness and standards across the operation
- Report any issues maintenance or otherwise to H&S manager
- Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic
- Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately
- Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients
- Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking foodstuffs and helping to prepare salads and desserts
- Disposing of rubbish
- Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas
The training you will be getting
- The successful candidate will work towards achieving their Apprenticeship Standard in Commis Chef Level 2
- A dedicated work-based trainer will be assigned to the candidate to provide them with support and guidance throughout the course. This is a predominently work-based programme with College attendance required once a month. All learning will take place at the candidate's place of employment/College and within their contracted working hours.
